Righties Fault CIA's Spying Abilities
Each side in this controversy could well be right. So what's say we split the difference and agree that the agency may have become too risk averse and that the newly risk seeking congressmen are playing a different fiddle than they once did. In the period between Watergate and 9/11 it seems that nearly everything the agency did was wrong in the public's (and Congress') eyes. Funny how quickly everyone forgets that the agency was cowed into risk aversion by Congressional critics. Are the righties just saber rattling for votes? Is Goss trying to place himself as a reformist, ready to take Tenet's place?
Yes, on both counts.
