Che Guevara legacy lives on in Bolivia -- and college campuses everywhere

It's funny how leaders of communist revolutions are taken as commericial icons within years of their deaths. Even funnier is that many young people identify with these communists with whom they have next to nothing in common and whose name is synonymous with a t-shirt the "cool kids" all had in high school or your college's philosophy department.

If we need any reminders that the appeal of communism is still strong for some people, just read this story. Like bellbottoms, this unfortunate movement will make a comeback when people are too young to remember its horrors.

I find it outrageous that the British Government would fund a trail after a communist radical.

This goes to the very heart of the European mentality today toward the U.S. The communists/socialists are back, only they are no longer the counter-culture of European society - they are European society.

As Bourgeois points out, many of America's youth in college campuses are fascinated with Che as well. Perhpas it is because they look to Europe as an outlet to check American influence throughout the world i.e. democratic values.

The only winners will be the Bolivians, who will make a quick buck on all the Berkley tourists carrying $300 dollar Patagonia backpacks, daddy's gold card, and a healthy skeptisism of capitalist greed.
